How can the date suggested above possible be correct when his father was born ca 1165. The correct date would have been more like 1210, no?

Hi Debra,
My error! Shmuel was born in 1184 in Dampierre, France ( the same year that his father Elkhanan died), and DIED in 1240 in Cologne Germany. I obviously transcribed the information wrong when I was building my tree. Sorry!
