What evidence that Paul Souchay and Anne Souchay are the parents of Anne Souchay, SM/PROG?

Cutting the relationship, pending primary sources.

Ghislaine le Mauff provided evidence to Huguenot Society of South Africa including evidence of Anne's sister Elisabeth Souchay's marriage to Pierre le Roux in Mer, Loir-et-Cher. Her parents, and consequently Anne's parents, are given as Paul Souchay and Anne Poillerat. Original document attached above. Archives départementales de Loir-et-Cher – E-dépôt 136/5 page 59. Courtesy of Ghislaine le Mauff.

Quoting Ghislaine "There were many people whose name was Poillerat (also written Poillera, Poilrat) in Mer. "

Sorry to use you as a quick way to check, but what evidence proves Elizabeth is Anne's sister?

Not that I'm disagreeing - I see I'm using that connection here myself:
https://www.geni.com/projects/Le-Roux-Genealogy-of-South-Africa/48730

LE ROUX, FOUCHER, BRUERE CONNECTION
On 31 Dec 1687 Jean & Gabriel le Roux, Philippe Foucher & Anne Souchay, with Estienne Bruere embarked together on the VOC ship Voorschoten to settle at the Cape of Good Hope. The le Roux brothers & Philippe Foucher were 2nd cousins. Philippe Foucher & Estienne Bruere were second cousins. Anne Souchay was the sister of the le Roux brother's sister in law. They all became progenitors of SA lines.

But I'm not seeing very easily the proof of Elizabeth and Anne as sisters

If they both have descendants that are mtDNA haplogroup U 4c1, then they are either sisters or cousins. Anne Souchay most certainly is U-4c1 haplo group. (More than 3 descendants tested as U- 4c1 mtDNA haplogroup.)

Having the same mtdna haplogroup U4c1 would not mean you are definitely sisters or even cousins , could be 5000 year separation or even more
The match would have to be much more specific and closer.
See FTDNA mtdna Haplogroup U website.

Who was the le Roux's brother sister in law? Elizabeth Souchay ?

Petrus, we don't know Elizabeth's haplogroup as we don't have descendants for her. Also, as Philip says that wouldn't prove they were sisters.

Yes, Philip -if I recall correctly - I did the schematic quite a while ago - but that's just me assuming they were sisters - not proving it.

In Le Roux genealogy book a few discrepancies , I am want to go through it again. A Shoemaker that is also the the Lord of Pomegorge ? Hugenots not allowed to travel under strict surveillance but off to Paris and Amsterdam ?
As you say a good schematic with dates and wives and children to get an idea.

New evidence 2002 says Jean Roux / le Roux b* 1666 son Isaac of and Gabriel Roux / le Roux b* 1669 son of Pierre were not brothers but cousins.

This contradicts a lot of ---

First Fifty Years - a project collating Cape of Good Hope records
A project to transcribe and publish copies of records relating to individuals who lived at the Cape (Cabo da Boa Esperança / de Caep de Goede Hoop / Die Kaap die Goeie Hoop) during the first decades of the settlement after 1652

Think First Fifty years more value and less desire for ancestors .

Will have to spend time on this over the weekend. Please join the LeRoux project.

Read through a lot if it on Sunday. Needs analyzing.

Will be fun - just needs a block of time

Apologies for slow reply. Studying postgrad and some assignments due tomorrow.

Oh, I love a good document :-) THANK YOU Drummond!

I'm trying to cite all the people mentioned in this translation of my granny's wedding doc - but I don't have a lot of time - can somebody check which Jean BOURDON is the ' baillif living at Mer' mentioned in the doc? I have Estienne Bourdon as a bailiff, but there are a number of options for the Jean. See the family tree on https://www.geni.com/projects/Le-Roux-Genealogy-of-South-Africa/48730

So glad the question was asked.
If no one had asked what is the origins of her parents here on GENI this document / source would never have even been searched for and when found then added to the profiles on GENI.
Everyone can benefit from this sharing of information.
Thank you Drummond a great find .

Thank you Sharon for not being an Ostrich and being proactive and constructive : daring to ask a question.

:-)
