Im still waiting to see what the folks at the New England Historic Genealogical Society think but as for the College in England im not going to be able to reprove the line with out some serous cash.. maby one of my distant cousins will cut me in on a will. Of course there is the controversy of if we are in fact in the armigerous line but not the fact that we are male line descendants of a Knight.
See my 17th great grandfather Sir Roger de Puttenham may or may not have used arms. My Ancestors knighthood predates the College of Arms and its authority. However some of his Descendants are recognized as being armigerous. This is the branch I believe based on research John Putnam belongs to but without the cash proof doesn't seem to matter.
