I'm curious whether Isabell is listed in connection with Churrah Lands by her husband's family or if she also had Native ancestry. She's my cousin. My shared ancestors with her are Capt. Thomas Carter and Katherine Dale (my 8th great-grandparents), so I'm wondering if there is any known Native on the shared Carter line. Thanks for any additional information.

She is my 8th GGM đź’“ she is listed as Native

Yes, but I can't find which of her parents carried the line. Do you know if it was the Carters? There's nothing in either of her parents profiles listing either was Native. Only her husband and children have info about being Native, which is why I was thinking she was a 'by-marriage' connection.

Other than that, Polly, it's nice to know we share Carter ancestors! :)

Debbie it really is a lot of fun to find family 🤗

Debbie Gambrell she goes through my old Cheraw

Ok, so it's not on the Carter line. I was hoping it was. lol Oh well, always worth checking. Thanks for clarifying where it came into the line for me.

I'm sorry cousin!

Yea... its through the Parker line.. NOT the Carter line... this is my 10th Great Grandmother.... So is it known whether her husband was Native?

I got notified from Geni . com via my email “Isabell Carter of Oropeake/Coropeake, "Churrah Lands" is your 8th great grandmother.“

I’ve done dna with ancestry and 23andMe and neither one show Native American ancestry. But maybe they don’t go back this far. My dad (William G. Carlton) told me when he was alive that we do have “Indian” in our ancestry. Lots of families have this family lore though… but now after seeing this info about Isabell Knight Carter it makes me wonder if it’s true.

23 and Me will show your Native. But only to a certain extent. If you upload to GEDMATCH you can use their chromosome browser as well as other tools that are very handy.
