And the parents of Paul aren't the ones at this profile
From what I've seen, these are the correct parents:;
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bunch-179
It was all correct just a bit earlier and now it's all disconnected.
Here's the thing, I worked on a friend's lines all day yesterday and found so many errors and sketchy connections. Then this morning I discovered his line had been cut and I was frustrated. BUT then I did more Googling and found the cut was warranted because he had actually been incorrectly connected. I found a duplicate for him on Geni, with the same wife, etc. and merged those and all seemed to match what I found in my Google searches on Wiki andd this link: https://www.englishlass.com/p68.htm#i2013, so I felt it was all 'done'. Then I came back and saw the discussion and the changes made and now my friend's lines are not connected, etc. So I'm ready to just throw my hands up. I will back away and let you finish what you're doing on it because it's only confusing things for us both to try to work on the connections at the same time. I'm trying to help a very long-time family friend who has no genealogy experience, but I don't know these lines well enough to do much better than he could do.
I was not working on it because you were. After discovering the error in the note on a census from 2012 I have been rebuilding/reworking my line. Which includes Benjamin Franklin Brown. this is his wife's line and turns out she is my line and not a second non existent wife that was created by someone else who merged two sisters Margaret with Frances... anyway. Strange timing. Coincidence and all that lol
I kinda like it. But it is certainly not because I saw you working on someone else's tree.
Give me some time and revisit them to see if you feel like someone is still out of line/needs rehomed or connected or sorted
Someone had made a name correction to a census record on Ancestry. I went by it when I worked on my grandmother's missing line
Ever since I discovered Richard White and Sarah White Brown were in a different state and county entirely (don't ask me how errors as blatant as that stay put... Oy... Lord knows) but in differentiating folks I have put people back together using census records and adding profiles for the missing ones-- here and on my private DNA tree at Ancestry. In doing this I had to disconnect parents entirely and BAM I have been getting Bunch matches out the wazoo and working to get them correct by the records as well as the DNA. I added Winnie's line in 2019 and left it. Now I see she is my grandmother line and I am working on it again. Yesterday I was working on my Hicks. I have started back at the closer to me end f the tree (bottom up), both sides
Ah-- correction-- only son John Punch is listed. They should fix that.
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bunch-40
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bunch-1434 appears correct but the line ends with my https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bunch-1301 showing as son of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bunch_lV-1 which is why I am being so cautious.

Nancy Bunch I can't bring myself to cut one--Paul Bunch, IV or Paul Bunch ... spinning my wheels. Still looking for something. Anyone got an opinion or source? I see a lot of will screenshots/document jpegs but still sifting through them.
At the time of the merge, both Paul's showed the same birth date of 5/28/1772 but the Mary's were different.
I have been working on the tree and have come to a stopping point for now but there are still some questions and maybe more genealogists and definitely more DNA matches will help. This is not a line i worked out with others and have only seen DNA matches since I disconnected my tree last week. A few months ago, I wrote Ancestry to stop giving me results for Winnie because "she's not mine" but yes, she is and DNA confirms it. LOVE that

I found Paul and Mary mentioned in a book and the dates don't match what we see elsewhere:
https://books.google.com/books?id=VrixDwAAQBAJ&pg=RA1-PA41&...
Has Paul born in 1772 and Mary born in 1770.
Were there possibly two Paul Bunches who married Mary Hancocks?
They're also listed in this book, which some folks don't give a lot of credibility:
https://books.google.com/books?id=f9AeCAAAQBAJ&pg=PT295&lpg...
\
with Paul b. 1768 and Mary born 1770 and says they're Nansemond / Metis
And, this very well put-together but lacking good sources site has both Paul and Mary born abt. 1740:

I hate all these inconsistencies that are making these lines so challenging.
Who is blood to Paul Bunch? My husband is. I would like to check gedmatch if anyone has a kit. Paul Bunch is Ricky L Johnson's second cousin 8 times removed!
Ricky L Johnson
→ Joann Johnson
his mother → Hallie Belton Shumake
her father → Charles Wesley Shumake
his father → Susannah Shoemake
his mother → John Chavis
her father → Jordan Chavis
his father → Ishmael Chavis, Waccamaw
his father → Phillip Chavis
his father → Frances (Gibson) Smith-Chavis
his mother → Gibson Gibson
her father → Hubbard Gibson, Sr,
his brother → Mary Bunch
his daughter → Paul Bunch
her son
The two Paul's are second cousins per the Geni trek.
That Pams tree one I found with google search but then I did see Erica Howton had it on a profile with a note that the Paul mentioned was not correct as a son and I had him in a different part of the tree so that was good and I put his Geni link into the note on the curated profile for the ones that the Pam's tree had.... I know a lot of folks can have MOST folks correct and a few incorrect and it just makes us aware we have to be careful.
When I added Winnie Bunch Brown here, I added her parents and I added her father's parents who I saw as Alexander Paul Bunch and Nancy Keith. Alexander Paul has been merged with Paul and with Alexander and so now I am just going back to the Ancestry tree where I still had him unchanged and I am trying to figure it out from there and here and WIkitree, of course, since I have a profile in these places. FS maybe later.... I think sometimes the lines have to settle once we have worked on them. I do not know for certain, I just know the DNA is speaking and I am adding cousins here to build the line from the bottom up and laterally and try not to mess with the tree tops.
My friend Aaron who I'm trying to help with these lines hasn't had his DNA tested yet but plans to. It certainly will help when we can see his Bunch matches.
Meanwhile, two sources on Ancestry show Paul and Mary Hancock married: .
Virginia, U.S., Compiled Marriages, 1660-180 and
Virginia, U.S., Select Marriages, 1785-1940
both show they married 12 Dec 1793 Louisa, Virginia, if that's any help in determining which of the two sets of dates they were mostly likely born was.
Be careful with the Wikitree. No sources. Pam’s family is better.
