James Breeding Is seen son of Bryant Breeding, I but his mother is not Elizabeth Conway - at least she’s not listed as his wife in Virginia Genealogies by Rev. Horace Hayden, published by Genealogical Publishing Company of Baltimore, Maryland, 1966, page 244, number 11, Her children are listed on page 245 and do not include James Breeden or Breeding.

Who has his parents please?

Elizabeth Breeding

Tagging Peter Joseph Forsling

I’ve separated Elizabeth Garlington - it wasn’t a bad merge at Geni, it was bad genealogy at FamilySearch.

This is not correct:

When Andrew Bryant Breeding was born in 1675, in Scotland, his father, Thomas E. Breeden, was 26 and his mother, Elizabeth Stroud, was 29. He had at least 8 sons with Elizabeth Conway. He died in 1778, in Artrip, Russell, Virginia, United States, at the age of 103.

I’m going to eliminate the “Conway” name from Eliza, wife of Andrew Breeding, and make MP.

Please find sources to add for the Breeden / Breeding family.

Hopefully this tree is better now. https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Bryant_Breeding_%281%29 Was a Conway, her husband was Bryant Breeding, their parents are unknown.

Reliable source:

Not sure https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Bryant_Breeding_%281%29 is their son based on that source, but he’s seen in others, and has Y DNA matches. So there should be a project at FamilyTreeDNA.

There’s a Conway family near to the Breeding family in Augusta County.

Acquisition of Land from Virginia Northern Neck Land Grants:

G-398: Thomas Conway of Prince William County, 1,007 acres in Augusta County. Surv. Mr. George Hume. On Dry run of Hawk's Bill. Adj. David Coffman (Koffman), James Murray, Widow Coffman, Bryan Breeding, Peter Ruffner, John Houldiman. 2 Aug. 1750. [Virginia Northern Neck Land Grants, 1742-1775, Vol. 2, Gertrude E. Gray, pg. 43].

I have Elizabeth Conway being the wife of Russell Breeding/Breeden.
I have Russell and Elizabeth Breeden children as John, James, Bryant and Spenser.

Yes, I’ve seen Bryant Breeding with the name Russell. Or was he a brother? Are there records? Looks there was a John.

K-337: Maj. Peter Wagener of Fairfax Co., 400 acres on Pass Run in Frederick Co. Surv. George Hume. Adj. John Wosdin Hoffman, John Breeding, George Widich, Maj. Peter Wagener, Bryant Breeding. 24. Sept. 1761. [Virginia Northern Neck Land Grants, 1742-1775, Vol. 2, Gertrude E. Gray, pg. 129].

Comments

Breeding-274 and Breeding-473 do not represent the same person because: Bryant Breeding is not Russell Breeding. Someone has taken a female's surname of Russell and changed Bryant to Russell

I have contacted the profile manager with regards to the name Russell in hopes that we can resolve this issue and move forward with a merge of the profiles as they are the same person except for the name Russell.

Here Elizabeth Conway has parents & 3 different Breeding husbands.

Elizabeth was born in 1709. She was the daughter of Dennis Conway and Anne Fielding. She passed away about 1773.

Peter Joseph Forsling - what do you think of the tree now?

Erica, it looks pretty solid now, glad to have the overlapping families gone that I somehow hadn't noticed before. Looks like they all came over from England a generation or two after Jamestown was settled. Hadn't really studied that part of colonial history before. The Northern Neck connection is interesting - we lived there about eight years & still have kids & grandkids there. All in all, a good bit of work done in a short while by yourself and others - thank you all!
