Michell -
At present I am going to look at 2 paths between you and Herbert (Herzl) Bloom
Path 1 -- the old path, the one Geni has been showing
From Herbert to you, this path is: Herbert To Mary Bloom Siegel to herbert Siegel to mitchell
Path 2 -- what I think you currently believe is your correct bio-path
From Herbert to you, this path is: Herbert To David Walter Bloom to herbert Siegel to mitchell
Looking at DNA info from AncestryDNA that you posted previously
====================
Whether Path1 or Path2 is correct, the following are your 2nd Cousins.
Louis Albert - 5% shared DNA 340cM. Louis Albert - Herbert bloom's great grandson -
herbert to sarah bloom cohen to Lillian cohen albert to louis
Diane Elefson - 2% shared DNA 165cM. Diane Elefson Herbert Bloom's great granddau.
herbert to sarah bloom cohen to Mary cohen sumberg to Diane -
=============
If Path1 is Correct, Ashley is your 2nd Cousin
If Path2 is Correct, Ashley is your 1st Cousin
Ashley Leal -- (2nd- 3rd cousin) - 4% shared DNA: 257cM across 12 segments on AncestryDNA.
Herbert (Hertzl) Bloom to David Walter Bloom to Herbert Ferrin Bloom to Ashley
==============
If Path1 is correct, the following are your 1C1R (1st cousin once removed)
If Path2 is Correct, the following are your 2C1R (2nd Cousins once removed)
Jess Lacher - 6% shared DNA 454cM.
Herbert to Mary (Bloom) Siegel to Rose (Bloom) Nachman to Ann Larcher to Jess
Alexander Nachman - 5% shared DNA 361cM.
Herbert to Mary (Bloom) Siegel to Rose (Bloom) Nachman to Arthur Nachman to Alexander
(I always look to see where the sibling pair is. For both these two:
For path 1, sibling pair is Herbert Siegel & Rose (Siegel) Nachman
For path 2, sibling pair is David Walter Bloom and Mary (Siegel) Bloom)
==========
Per https://dnapainter.com/tools/sharedcmv4
Basically 99% of the time
For 1C -- the Range in shared cM is 396 to 1397 - average 866
For 1C1R -- the Range in shared cM is 102 to 980 -- average 433
For 2C -- the Range in shared cM is 41 to 592 -- average 229
For 2C1R -- the Range in shared cM is 14 to 353 - average 122
Mitchell -
For Jess and Alexander
Both 454cM. and 361cM are higher than the range for 2C1R
Both are within the range for 1C1R
So it seems Path1 is more consistent with the DNA with regards to them
On the other hand, if you have Bloom ancestry from another source, or share additional ancestoral lines as well with them, more details would be needed about that to sensibly decide
However -- Ashley shares way too little to be your first cousin.
Did not look at the table for half- relationships.
For Half 1C -- the Range in shared cM is 156 to 979 - average is 449
At 257 Ashley would still be on the low side, which is unusual among Ashkenazi Jews

Cora Marie Ferrin was not only my 1st cousin once removed, (her mother, Cora May was my great aunt; she and my grandmother, Della, were sisters) but she also my step grandmother.
Private User , If I'm following correctly (no guarantee, of course!), these missing children have nothing to do with the Rosenberg (or even Bloom) families, but are related to the Jacobson family that married into the Ferrin family. See Discussion tab for Cora Marie Ferrin
James Anthon Jacobson is your great aunt's brother's wife's brother by DNA autosomal Match
