Marion Murray is reported to be the only child of Andrew Murray of Blackbarony and his first wife Elizabeth Lockhart.

...[Andrew] died intestate 1 September 1572, testament - dative confirmed 3 June 1573,3 having married, first, Elizabeth, daughter and heir of William Lockhart, burgess of Edinburgh, about 14 June 1533/ By her, who also died intestate, testa- ment-dative confirmed 26 May that year,5 he had issue a daughter : —

1. Marion, married, contract dated 14 December 1566, to James Pringle of Whitebank.6 She died at Whitebank May 1585, testament confirmed 13 January 1592-93,7 leaving issue.

24 February 1567-68: Charter under the Great Seal of Scotland by which James VI, King of Scots, confirms possession of the lands of Dechmont, in the sheriffdom of Linlithgow, to James Hoppringill of Quhytbank and his wife Mariote Murray. This land had previously been resigned by Mariote Murray, with the consent of her husband and her father, Andrew Murray of Blackbarony, in order to obtain a new grant in favour of herself and her husband, and their lawful male heirs, whom failing to Mariote's nearest heirs whatsoever.
