I am fascinated with this path because the Bass historian Tanna Jo Bass believed my second great grandfather John Richard Carter Webber was blood related to Bass.

John Richard Carter Webber is the grandson of Seth Ward Webber, Sr Seth Ward Webber, Sr. and there are a few brick walls/blank spots on the tree on the Webber branch in the 1600's.

No action requested or required. Just making an observation and wanted to time stamp it.

Hester is actually a Branch, not a Bass.

Tagged her parents and husband attached to the profile

The first wife of Henry Farmer, I is unknown. His second wife was Hester Bass, whom he married in 1696, the widow of his neighbor, William Bass. (Henrico Orphans court 1677 - 1739 p. 39) 2 Henry Farmer I deeded property to his sons in 1707 - 1709 and 1714. It is presumed they were of age (21) when he did this, in which case it would have been impossible for the second wife to be the mother of his sons.

Will need a curator if this is the Widow Bass

About edit | history
Researcher Kevin Wynn Biggs gave the names of those he believes are Hester's parents, and believes her maiden name is "Branch" rather than "Bass". Janice Witt also agrees: " also noticed that Mary Farmer Childers grandfather, Henry Farmer 1657-1734 and grandmother Hester Branch b. 1657-d. 1700, is different here than in my tree. Geni's tree has Hester Bass not Branch, but Hester married a Bass: William Bass and was also married to Henry Farmer, of whom Mary descends. Hester's parents are William Branch Sr. 1625-1659 and Jane Hatcher Gower."

Bass was her first husband's name, not her maiden name. p. 78 of Orphans Court book 1677-1739 of Henrico Co. Va. by Pauline Pearce Warner; 1963; p. 39 of original Orphans Court book-- “At an Orphans Court held at Varina for the County of Henrico the 20th day of August 1696 in the yeare of the Reign of Wm. the 3rd....1696 it is ordered that Henry Farmer who maryed the Executrix of William Bass late of this County decd be sumoned to the next court to give se’ty for the probate of the Decd will.”

Hester is locked with this name and to these parents.
Will cross post

I've disconnected Hester from the Bass/Basse family, and changed her birth surname (none of the other fields are currently locked).

In order to prevent any Bass connections from being re-attached, I locked relationships on Hester's profile & added a "shell" for a first husband: William Bass.

That means, however, that if her parents, siblings, or additional children are identified, a Curator will have to be involved in adding them.

Dan Cornett thank you so much

I looked to the Wikitree profile for the husband William Bass to try to flesh out his new profile here but it is NOT correct at Wikitree apparently and will need more work.
The William they have as husband of this Hester is actually the William that we show here on Geni as husband of Hester Farmer, all curated profiles.

It would probably be helpful if someone can add info to the new William and MP him.
In the meantime, I will step off.
I love those Bass :)

So to conclude-- these are not the same:
William Bass
William Bass

Hester Farmer
Hester Bass

Unless they are ;)

Because the dates of the "Bass" and "Farmer" children of the two Hester's overlap, I'd say they are not the same persons. (I removed the possibly confusing data from the husband of Hester Branch for now.)

Excellent

You're welcome Cynthia.
