I believe this is the same person as this Leofwin:

Leofwin fitz Aviat

Even though his date of birth is showing abt. 1095, everything else about him matches the Leofwin b. 1100 in the Overview notes. That being the case, the dates match exactly to the Leofwin FitzAviet at the link above. I think the father for Leofwin FitzAviet is actually Leofwin b. 1080 as the genealogy doesn't list anyone named Aviet, as far as I've seen.

I wouldn’t do anything without notes in profile with citations. Most (not all) dups in this era have already been addressed in geni.

In fact, I think they are not a match. Fitz Aviat is a patronymic indicating his father was Aviat - and so is the tree. The coat of arms are different also.

Thanks for clarification on that, Etica.

There could be mixup! But I wouldn’t touch without really good notes first.

I checked Wikitree and they’re uncertain also.

They are the same, but I am still investigating but fairly sure that they should really both be merged with the profile for FitzAviet-1 as being the most correct LNAB. Though there is the possibility these are two separate families both with a man named Lefwin/Leofwin at their head. Either way it needs much more investigation with appropriate sources.

They might be the same person, but there is not enough info (and no sources) to back up your claim. Please updated both profiles with the source of your info, and update the data. Then perhaps we can make a judgement.

Are FitzAviet-1 and Hindley-51 the same person (dates differ but configuration seems to support this.) It seems first Aviet's son the first Leofwin had three kids (Margaret, Swain and Nest) with wife Margaret Unknown and had son Leofwin Jr. with wife Unknown Unknown. The multiple Margarets and multiple Leofwins and competing dates make it hard to tell.

Biography

The wife of Lefwin is Unknown.

Children

Robert FitzLefwin, held a fifth part of half a knight's fee under Henry de Lasey. [2]
Everard FitzLefwin, held half a knight's fee under Henry de Lasey. [3]
Daughter, married Reginald de Notton. [2]

Research Notes

This is not the same family as that of Leofwin, of Lancashire, England. Ælfwine was the name of an ancient King of Deira, and there were several of that name living in England at this time.

and yes - the families are not only different, they’ve crossed over in internet profiles.

Research Notes

Margaret's LNAB is currently Unknown, and more research is needed to determine her Family.

Based on the name of Lefwin, an old gedcom erroneously assigned Margaret to the family of Leofwin of HIndley, Lancashire, England. Ælfwine was the name of an ancient King of Deira, and there were several of that name living in England at this time.

Assulf had assets in Yorkshire, whereas Hindley is in Lancashire.

Updated Margaret de Notton & Swain de Samlesbury

Ah! You're awesome, Erica! Thanks for getting to the root of all that!
