This is an email I recieved from Bill Deyo..... wondering if anyone could help me figure the Taliaferro part out?
William Elton Deyo was my father. As your chart shows, my mother was a descendant of Dr. Richard Bryant, Jr. Richard's sister, Elizabeth, married Richard Elkins, but only a few of her children are proven, because he did not have a will that survived. There is no proof of a son, Joshua Elkins, but it could well be true, as we know that Richard Elkins must have had other children.
I do not know very much about Taptico, but it appears that a woman named Christian, who was certainly closely related to Christian Pettus Martin Waddington, but not her daughter, married a Mr. Bourne and had descendants who married into the Taptico line. Send me your Taptico line. You may have more than one line to Pocahontas through the Pettus family.

That is great. You descend from William Tapp III, who married Christian Bourne, granddaughter of Andrew Bourne and Christian ____________ (proven NOT to have been a Taliaferro). The elder Christian, I feel certain, was a niece in some way of Christian (Pettus) Martin Waddington. Since we do not know but one child of Christian Waddington's sister, Eleanor, wife of John Golbee/Goldsby, Christian (wife of Andrew Bourne and Henry Johnson) was likely a daughter of Eleanor. That Goldsby family appears to have left the area and settled in James City County, likely to be near the Pettus relatives who lived there.
It is significant that descendants of the Pettus family of Patawomeck/Pamunkey blood intermarried with the nearby Tapp family of Wicocomico, who were also part of the Powhatan Chiefdom and probably closely related.
