Private User has kindly shared a study called

On Page 333, it covers the Chiles & Terrell families, and there are differences from the main source used for Geni:

Micajah Chiles, Sr. (died about 1734) Married MARY Terrell Mary Terrell of Virginia (daughter of William). But according to The Smithsons document, Micajah died after 1752 and married ANN Terrell (daughter of Joel, son of William) Joel Terrell, Sr. son of William Terrell, of Hanover County

Geni shows this Ann, daughter of Joel, married to MANOAH Chiles:

It is Micajah & Mary who are the big discrepancy.

Oxford may be the confusion?--- looking and trying to wrap my head around the folks you have tagged....
I have run into Oxford again just today in tree building.
Terrell men are pretty solid but seems their wives often have unknown maiden names.

Oxford is not the issue the poster is asking about.

He is saying Micajah’s wife was Joel Terrell’s daughter, not William’s.

Cynthia, I suggest you read through the article at Tidewater Families on the Chiles Family at Ancestry, It begins here (page 235) and describes the kids also.

I think this is the most professional source I’ve seen, It is not however approaching from the Smithson family point of view, or the Terrell family.

That’s a different Micajah …

Micajah Jr. died in Albemarle, Will recorded 1799, wife and an illegitimate son, Henry Fleming later Henry Chiles.

William & Susannah Terrell had daughter Ann, married David Lewis, Mary, married 1) Micajah Chiles 2) Matthew Mills

So your docs are another discrepancy (sigh). Looks like Virginia Magazine perhaps from JSTOR, maybe Lion Gardiner, editor.

I am really liking this more contemporary Tidewater Families.
