"The Genealogical History of the Noble Family of Courtenay" pp. 134-5 states that Sir Hugh de Courtenay, Lord of Oakhampton inherited property from his "Uncle William de Courtenay" whose lady was "a daughter of Thomas Bassett".

However, on Geni their father John de Courtenay, Lord of Okehampton has no brother "William de Courtenay" married to a Bassett woman.

Instead, the only uncle William they have is William de Preaux , for which no sources have been provided.

And this William has neither wife nor sources shown here.

There was one Gervais de Courtenay in those Days: It is probable he was the Natural Son of Reginald; for he had some Lands given him in Musberrie, which was Part of the Barony of Okehampton, and did belong to Reginald:

He married the only Daughter of Sir William Tracy, who was one of thode that killed Thomas a-Becket, and he had by her a Son named William, who took the Name of Tracy, because his Mother was an Heiress;

and this William Tracy, Son of Sir Gervais Courtenay, gave to the Canons of Torr all his Lands that he had in North Chillingford, which he held of Dru Mongirun, and the Grant was made to Richard I.
