I don't expect to get a proper answer so I won't reply. I just want to state the facts. I've learned a while ago that I don't control much here anyway. Somebody did not like me much is all I can comprehend at this point. (I discovered this yesterday at 6:14 PM)

My projects are gone without prior warning nor telling me:
https://www.geni.com/projects/Ancestors-of-Interest-MOST-of-them-fr.... (over 4300 profiles)
https://www.geni.com/projects/Ancestors-of-Interest-2-Please-check-...
(over 3200 profiles)
https://www.geni.com/projects/Ancestors-of-Interest-3-Please-check-...
(around 1500 profiles)
For a total of 6100 profiles

So that was my happy New Year gift from Geni to me. Please note this is without any prior warning nor telling me. Needless to say I'm deeply hurt.

My total is wrong though (it's 9000 not 6100 profiles total of the 3 projects) but everything else is correct and factual.

A sneaky curator did that to me. I did not like it at all.

I did not know anyone could delete Projects.

If it might be considered Vandalism, you can report it - from terms of service:
". If you become aware of misuse of the Geni Services by any person, please contact Geni at misconduct@geni.com. "

For a user to delete a project they have to
1. Remove each of the profiles from the project
2. Then delete the profile

Removing 12000+ profiles manually is a huge task - so it is unlikely to have been done by a user or curator. It would have taken days if not weeks to do manually.

If Geni deleted it they would have communicated directly with the project managers.

I'm just here to confirm that what Leanne says is true: curators don't have any special tool that allows us to delete another user's project like that, and there's no way anyone could've done that huge of a deletion on their own.

When users (including curators) have concerns about any particular project, we can report them to Geni, but it's Geni who decides what to do in those cases, not curators.

I would reach out to Geni staff to ask them why the projects have been removed from the site. You can write to them directly at misconduct@geni.com.

It is (was?) possible to delete a project by removing all profiles and other collaborators to become the project owner, - i did that a couple of times in the early days when spammers created some projects that was too extreme to wait for a response from Geni because of the time of day (for them). They did however only have a few collaborators and none profiles, and as Leanne says removing 9000 profiles manually first would be impossible.

There is however a report option for projects now, and when reported they are probably automatically hidden to await response as with messages, so I would wait for a response from Geni staff.

1- Two (3) on three (3)of my projects are ARCHIVED HERE so I can not make this up:

https://web.archive.org/web/20241214224927/https://www.geni.com/pro...

https://web.archive.org/web/20241214224929/https://www.geni.com/pro...

2- And not only that, I had collaborators, they will remember what I was doing.

3- And not only that, somebody testified this: " I found your projects interesting and useful. I just bumped into an Arenberg/ Metz line I was not aware of a few days ago and had been clicking around and noticed many were included."

Therefore, I can not make this up. Could you please give me the email address of the Geni staff, it would be greatly appreciated. (I did not find it, I am crying)

misconduct@geni.com is the email address.

I presume this is the email address: misconduct@geni.com
"For other matters, email the link and a description of the problem"
I don't know when I will feel like it. I almost did not sleep last night.

Private User -- Reporting doesn't automatically hide projects. That reporting option has existed for years now and it's never resulted in projects becoming inaccessible; I've used it before.

I just wanted to point that out in case that misconception might make someone hesitate about reporting a project. People shouldn't worry about accidentally hiding a project when all they want to do is report one.

Private User -- I am sorry that you are so upset right now. I will contact Geni and ask them to reach out to you, but please keep in mind that due to the holiday you may not hear back for a couple days. And yes, that is the correct e-mail address.

Private User Thank you for your offer Ashley, though I am unsure it will change something...I need to calm down in order to recuperate if I can, not to mention that I have problems with my eyes at the moment.

What I am afraid of is that I will be told there is a glitch either in the system (best case scenario) or in my head (worst case scenario) but I already proven that this did not occur in my mind, it really did happen.

btw, not all geni curators were nice to me but most of them actually are.

Erica Howton Thank you Erica.

Private User Could my projects (3 of them) be only hidden? Is there a glimpse of hope for my hard work to not be already destroyed? Am I understanding you correctly?

Private User -- Only Geni staff can answer that question for you. You'll probably need to wait a couple days to hear back from them due to the New Year's holiday.

All I was saying before is that no user (including curators) can hide projects by reporting them.

Private User
Just in case and to be on the safe side, could you please verify on your end if those projects are up and running on your end?

https://www.geni.com/projects/Ancestors-of-Interest-MOST-of-them-fr...

https://www.geni.com/projects/Ancestors-of-Interest-2-Please-check-...

https://www.geni.com/projects/Ancestors-of-Interest-3-Please-check-...

In case the glitch would simply be my computer? I think I will contact them. Please don't contact them for me. Just do the "drive testing" of those links above for me please, just in case this would just be a computer problem on my end. Thank you

Curators can't see anything other than what you can see.

You will have to ask Geni for further information. I would check your email inbox and your Geni messages box first as Geni would undoubtably have sent you some form of communication.

Private User Re

Projects don't get hidden when reported.

Private User This was just in case I would have a virus on my end. But I did test drive myself by clicking other projects and I was able to get to them so this is not a computer problem.

If the Geni staff would have sent me an email, - which I highly doubt - from which email address would they have send me this email from? (hypothetically...)

I searched my mailbox "Geni staff" and misconduct@geni.com
No email from them.

Private User

I assume they would first contact you via Geni messaging. That's how they always contact me.
Have a look back at your messages as it might have been today or a couple of weeks ago.

An external email would have the domain name of geni.com
They would use the email address you have on your Geni.com account

Private User
I meant from which email they would hypothetically have emailed me from, not the other way around!!!! Therefore, I presume it would have been misconduct@geni.com
I already replied about that.

You won't get an email from "Geni staff" or from "misconduct". It would probably be an actual name of one of their staff, their general manager or a department name like Customer Service.

Private User Just to be sure you saw it. "Please don't contact them for me". Thank you.

Just to be clear curators don't work for Geni so we have no list of staff members or departments.
And no access to their emails or systems beyond what any other user has on www.geni.com

If you want more information all you need to do is send your query direct to Geni.com

Private User Just to be clear I am very disappointed of my experience on Geni.

Private User
No email received from: "General Manager" or "Customer Service" from Geni. Not to mention that I would already have seen it. But I double-checked regardless in order to close that chapter.
Peace Out.

Private User -
What you should be searching for is ANYTHING with "@geni.com" as the last part of the email address of the sender.

Stop trying to guess what might come in front of that. And have you looked thru your Geni in-box for the past 3 weeks?

Since the names get cut-off in long links, so we do not see it all, pasting the part after "projects" here:

Ancestors-of-Interest-MOST-of-them-from-NOBILITY-from-various-Dynasties-and-Countries/4498908
Ancestors-of-Interest-2-Please-check-the-Top-Surnames/4499281
Ancestors-of-Interest-3-Please-check-the-Top-Surnames/4499282

Private User - I said look in past 3 weeks, but -- that assumed you had seen them this week.
When was the last time you looked and saw any of them? I know lots of my profiles, I truly would not be able to answer that question, but maybe you can about your projects.

If not, then no idea how far back you would have to look for a nessage.

Insulting my intelligence to top it off !!!!
