Jodi Rae née Trogstad Brennan, 'Queen Regent' writes:

There are two cousins of progenerators hat lead to my own family's line of the Bowens from the Scropes. I am having a hard time placing Alice Scrope and Sir James Strangeways children or associate them to Alinore Tailboys, daughter of Walter Tailboys, who is supposedly a wife of the Henry Scrope child of Sir James Strangeways husband of Elizabeth Darcy.

Children of Sir James Strangeways and Alice Scrope

Cecilia Strangeways b. c 1475[1]
Joan (Jane) Strangeways b. c 1478, d. 26 Nov 1556[1]

Let me know if this helps

Here are the James and Alice in question:
* Sir James Strangeways, of Harsley
* Alice Strangeways

https://stirnet.com/genie/data/british/ss4tz/strangeways01.php#link1 shows the following issue for them:

* Sir Thomas Strangeways (d before 08.10.1525)
m. Ann Dacre (dau of Humphrey, Lord Dacre)
* James Strangeways (3rd son)
m. Elsabeth Ratclyff (sister of Sir Edward Ratclyff)
* Margaret Strangeways
m. John Dawnay
* Jane Strangeways (d 15.11.1546)
m1. John Bygott (son of Sir Raff)
m2. (c11.1522) Sir William Mauleverer/Maleverer of Wothersome (d 11.08.1551)
* Mary Strangeways
m. Robert Roos/Ross of Ingmanthorpe (d 05.1530, son of James)
* Richard
* John

James married secondly Margaret Danby and had unspecified issue by her.

Is there a connection from the Strangeways to the Tailboys?

Possibly connected to:

Sir Henry Tailboys

Married Eleanor de Boroughdon (i,e, Alienor)

Eleanor Tailboys, Baroness Kyme

Thomas Strangeways, of Salford

Sir Henry Tailboys
Sir Henry Tailboys is Thomas Strangeways, of Salford's second great grandson's wife's great grandfather!
Thomas Strangeways, of Salford → Sir John Strangeways of Strangewyche (his son) → Henry Strangeways (his son) → Roger Strangeways (his son) → Thomas Strangeways, Esq. (his son) → Eleanor Strangeways / Tilney (his wife) → Sir Walter Tailboys (her father) → Sir Walter Tailboys, MP, de jure Baron Kyme (his father) → Sir Henry Tailboys (his father)

Eleanor Tailboys was a 4th cousin to both Sir James Strangeways, of Harsley
and Alice Strangeways. So, maybe there are some ideas along their paths?

I think the OP is probably going to find people being related in several different ways.

If she is asking for direct ancestry, and those to be the parents, I cannot find anything. The way it is worded is a bit unclear to me.

Those surnames are definitely connected though. It could be she has cousins who have trees where they have mixed up people with similar names? (Again, if I understood what she is asking correctly....)

Good luck with this!

So there's no direct ancestry.

This looks like the closest path, but you're right, there should be more.

Sir Henry Tailboys is Thomas Strangeways, of Salford's second great grandson's wife's great grandfather. < relationship path >

Jodi Rae née Trogstad Brennan, 'Queen Regent' - I think this is the best we know.

Hope it helped.
