In 2024 some Geni Users created a comprehensive Jews of Brazil Project. It is meant to include the Recife project and several other projects of local interest and all of the Brazilian Jews in those projects.

Appreciate your cooperation.

Please consider adding everyone who qualifies and was mentioned in your Recife project to the overall Jews project also. This is what makes Geni so good!

Questions?

For the sake of fairness, I clarify that the Project Jews of Brazil was created in 2015 by Malka Mysels

I have linked all the projects about the history of Jews in Brazil. Please access https://www.geni.com/projects/Portal-Brasil/7439 and see in the item JUDAISM all the projects created by the Curators.

Hello Carla,

I am happy to see your work on Geni. It's quite impressive, especially for many aspects of Brazil. Thank you for participating in the world of Geni.

I use curator Emil quite a bit as I have some issues with a person "A.P." who thinks he is an expert on the Jews of Rhodes. Mostly that means deletions.

My current work is mostly on the Jews of Rhodes although I do other research as well.

So, I looked for the Jews of Brazil Project before starting one myself. It's indexed as JUDAISM. I did not see it as Jews of Brazil. I know Malka and she is very helpful to Geni. Sorry to impinge on her work.

Aside from all that; Anyone from Rhodes is my search parameter.

Hello, Dan Berwin Brockman!

For all Brazilians of Jewish descent, it is always interesting to have another user researching the subject.

The first wave of new Jews and Christians immigrated to the Northeast of Brazil. Many came from Holland to the Azores Islands and then to Brazil, but there were also those who came directly from Portugal.

In recent years, there has been a huge wave of Brazilians discovering this Jewish origin that was lost over time. Some have even returned to practicing the religion and building new synagogues.

Emil is the Brazilian Curator who knows the most about the subject, but I am available for any help.

Best Regards,

Carla
