I am searching for the early ancestors of Francis Tanselle/Tansel (1761-1841) who was born in France and came to American in the late 1780s, first settling in VA then moving on to KY in 1798, and finally IN in 1829. He and three son, John, Stark, and Timothy made beautifully decorated powder horns famous for their large federal eagle as the centerpiece on the front side.
There are several posted genealogies posted on Francis' earlier ancestors going back into France, but NONE of them provide any documentation to verify the French connection to the American Tanselle family in KY and IN. While the posted family tress may be correct, small discrepancies suggest corrections are still needed, and documentation of sources is needed to verify the several early Tansel trees.
Does anyone who has worked on the early Tanselle/Tansel family of French origin, and particularly the related lines to Francis Tansel of VA, KY, IN, have access to the sources used to assemble the early sections of the trees? Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.
