Consider that his supposed mother Maria Sophia van der Byl, SM died two years before he was born, and his father had remarried with Elisabeth Morkel, SM on 5 Sept 1728. Elisabeth Morkel gave birth to Philip Wouter de Vos, baptised on 22 Jan 1730 in Stellenbosch, who is sayd to have died at the age of one day. Her second son, baptised on 8 April 1731, was also named Philip Wouter.
