Hello,

I am looking for verification that this is the correct father for Ann Weld

Ann's father was definitely a Henry Johnson, but proof is needed that it is THIS Henry Johnson. Gravesite says Ann's Henry was born in 1801; he was buried in Ontario. The birth record for this Henry says 1795 and is in Dundee, whereas his children were born in Applegarth in a different part of Scotland. Also, Ann's birthplace seems a bit off.

Can anyone help? Private User would appreciate it.

We also know that Mary Johnstone is correct for Ann's mother's name and the names match for the sisters. The question is really more about whether it's the correct Henry.

Three of the sisters in the family married three brothers from another family.

Sorry, Henry Johnson should be Johnston/Johnstone

You worked on possible parents, Private User & Henrietta Ogilvy of Kilrenny. Any thoughts on Henry M. Johnstone as their son? The birth date and location discrepancies raise my eyebrows.

I'm sorry to say I don't think the parentage of Henry M. Johnstone is correct, and I've detached him as son of Henry Johnston & Henry Johnston.

Their son First Lieut. Henry Johnston, RN was the one born December 02, 1795 in Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland. He was a officer in the Royal Navy.

Will confirm more details of his profile as I can.

Thank you so much, Erica Howton. While it's unfortunate to lose that particular line going further back, I'm seeing it as a positive that we are now on the right track to finding the correct line.

Possible candidate to pursue: Henry Moor Johnstone, christened 29 March 1801 in Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire.

Lochmaben and Applegarth are basically next door to each other.

It's a good one. I saw a reference that Henry M. Johnston's middle name was "Moore."

Well done, I'll take a quick look but unlikely to find more...

Hmmmm not convinced as there are two separate Ann's - might be more tangled then we think.

Oh dear, Debbie's right. How is this Ann Johnstone born in England and died in Australia the same person as https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/233772526/ann-johnston?

Ann Weld

Not to mention that Ann Weld profile notes show her as Irish?

Anne confirms that the Irish on the record we are showing is incorrect; we might have the wrong transport record.
