"Gene Hackman Died a Week After His Wife, Both From Natural Causes" (March 7, 2025) < nytimes.com > The actor’s wife, Betsy Arakawa, died of a respiratory illness linked to rodents, New Mexico officials said. Mr. Hackman had Alzheimer’s, which contributed to his death from heart disease.

I find this so upsetting. Why didn't they have more help?

I was thinking his kids, also. They released statements saying he was in good health preceding his death. Which, if his Alzheimers was so advanced he didn't recognize his wife was dead (the theory), was obviously not the case. Or am I projecting and they're just being private themselves? Still, I can't imagine not getting news of a 95 year old parent for 2 weeks??

And i think of his poor wife, with no assistance. Why didn't they have an aide coming by?
