Hi, everyone!

Some of you may know me as a regular Geni member or a contributor to the Geni blog. I've been a Geni member since January 2007, and today marks my first day as a member of the Geni team.

So, what will I be doing? Talking to users like you. I want to hear what you're doing, saying, and feeling in regards to Geni.

I'll be representing Geni at Genealogy conferences as well as starting up some Geni-related podcasts.

If you guys have any suggestions, I'm all ears. :-)

Congratulations! You'll be a terrific addition to the Geni team (and we curators will enjoy your insights as well). BTW, do you go by Rob, Robert or Grant?

Very cool. Congratulations. I'll enjoy saving up ideas and feedback and handing it over to you. Podcasts are great. One thing I'd like to do is get more of the younger generation involved and as my son said - Mom, put it all in a Powerpoint with pictures and I'll take a look. If you can make a compelling Podcast, that's the type of thing he would listen to.

Good question, Pam. Everyone I Know calls me Grant. That said, I answer to Robert.

Thanks, Pam :-)

Hatte: Absolutely. I will do my best to engage quite a few demographics that genealogy doesn't attract.

Thanks. ;-)

You can use my kids as guinea pigs... My young Argentine and Israeli cousins love Geni and our tree but my kids are blaise about it.

You go by Grant? Sweet! I support any fellow middle-namer receiving more recognition. :)

I look forward to seeing the Facebook page utilized better. I work on the side as a social networking administrator, and I cringe when I see user comments on the Geni page going unanswered. It's becoming a customer service expectation these days, so having someone more dedicated to working on that will be a good development.

I've mentioned this in another thread recently, but some more visual how-to guides for Geni would be nice. They're more and more common on collaborative websites and can help to clear up a lot of questions that might otherwise clog up the help queue or the discussions area.

Yeah, Grant, and Ashley did one that I really quickly snagged and of course have promptly lost again.

I am so delighted you are our community evangelist. Welcome aboard.

Congratulations!

Your name was the first that popped up in my mind when I noticed that Geni announced that job, and I am happy that you did consider that yourself.

Congratulations as well

:-)

Congrats, Grant! A perfect fit.

Mazal Tov Grant. I'm sure you'll have a blast. :-)

Private User, one of the newest members of the Curator team actually DOES (and has) make WebCast visual guides for Geni. So I pointed out your request to him. Grant if you want to make a connection about this send me a private message.

I think you linked to the wrong user, Shmuel ;-)

I like the idea about the visual how-tos. And if we are going to go by middle names then you can call me Marlow ;)

No Bjørn. Ashley made the request. I wasn't going to "out" the WebCast wizard, for fear of people swamping him with requests. ;-)

Sorry.

I just read "J. Ashley Odell, one of the newest members of the Curator team.." and was going to pinpoint that she is not a curator and I have not seen any webcasts from her either ;-)

Congratulations, Grant! I think a Community Evangelist is just what Geni needs. I agree with the visual "how to" guides. I've had new users come to me with questions, and it would be wonderful to have a link to give them.

Ashley: I'll be trying my best to work through all of the Facebook and Twitter questions. Glad you like the idea. :-D

Erica Howton Thanks! I'm going to be doing a lot of visual walkthroughs in the coming months. It'll take a little bit to get the ball rolling, but expect daily content!

Private User Thanks! It means a lot to me to have the support of the Geni community.

I hope you all know that I am personally vested in the success of Geni. I love this company, and I want to grow and get better all the time.

Hearing what you folks have to say is the best way to do that.

Ofir Friedman Thank you. :-)

Private User That means a lot. Thank you.

Scott: Thanks! :-) I'm working on it.
