About Aaron Teschner
Aaron Teschner was named in honor of his paternal great-grandfather, Aron Singer-Teschner (b. c.1715). In 1848, Aaron Teschner and his family are seen in the Jewish census of Vag Besztercze, Trencin Co., Hungary. His occupation is given as "moinar" [Hungarian for "miller"]. In 1851, Aaron Teschner is seen living in household #133 in Vag Besztercze's Jewish section. In September 1857, Aaron and most of his family immigrated to the United States, accompanying a large group of other Teschner family members. The ship manifest refers to him as "Aron Teschner, age 56, merchant". He later returned to Europe and is seen residing in Vag Besztercze in 1866. In 1873, he, his wife, and his youngest son all returned to the United States, and immediately joined other family members in Ohio. Aaron Teschner died in Toledo, Ohio in March 1877, in his 78th year, of chronic disease of the stomach. From 1875 until his death, he was seriously ill and was bedridden for a two-year period. He and his wife, Celia, are both buried in the Oheb Shalom Cemetery in Sandusky, Ohio. According to his gravestone, he was born on 26 April 1799 and died on 23 March 1877.
