Biography

Abigail Doane was a daughter of Dr. Daniel Doane by his first wife, said by her nephew, Harwich town historian, to have been Constance Snow, daughter of Constance and Nicholas Snow, who were the Doane's neighbors in Eastham, Massachusetts.[1]However, as no official documentary proof of Constance's marriage to Daniel Doane exists, and the only existiing contemporary record is Josiah Paine's unofficial notebook, now in the Eastham Public Library, listing Constance Snow as Abigail Doane's mother must be marked:

"UNPROVEN." [2]
