About Abigail Foster
GEDCOM Note
The name of Joseph Foster's wife is unknown per Howell, "History of Southampton," & Pierce, "Foster Genealogy." Also, Torrey's, "New England Marriages Prior to 1700" Vol 1, p 277, has an Abigail Lord md to Jacob Foster, "FOSTER, Jacob (1635-1710) & 2/wf Abigail LORD (-1729); 26 Feb 1666, 1666/7; Ipswich." The name "Abigail Lord" as wife to Joseph Foster (1638-1708) seems to be family tradition. Although the name, "Abigail" without a surname has been associated with Joseph. Per Helen Foster Snow, "The Christopher Foster Family History 1603-1953," Snow writes in section 5. "The Old Foster House" Still Standing in Southampton," on page # 63 , "The census of 1698 shows that Joseph, age 58, and his four sons were living in this house--Christopher, Joseph, Daniel and Nathan--also five 'ffemales', one named Abigail probably his wife." Later in the book she writes, "Joseph (1638-1708) married Abigail, whose surname is not known. "
