(51) ill. PALMER GOULDING, (probably son of Peter Goulding of Boston, who was a proprietor of Worcester, and had a grant of 50 acres of land'there in 1718,) m. Abigail Rice at Concord, Dec. 4, 1722. She was not Abigail Rice, [64.9] but Abigail Rice of another race ; yet, as one or more of her chil. and several of those that descended from them intermarried with the descendants of Edmund Rice, it may not be amiss to give some account of her pedigree in this place, and also of such of the children of Mr. Goulding and herself as have come to our knowledge; inasmuch as we shall have occasion to refer to them in the subsequent pages of this work. She was the dau. of Timothy Rice, (whose father, Richard Rice of Cambridge and Concord, (1. Jane 9th, 1709, aged 100 years,) and Abigail Marrett, who were m. 27th of April, 1687; b. Aug. 16, 1666, dau. of John and Abigail (Richardson) Marrett of Cnm., who were m. June 20, 1654 ; son of Thomas Marrett, who d. 30th of 4th mo., 1664, and his wife Susannah, who d. 23d of 12th mo., 1664.
Her father, Timothy Rice, resided at Concord. An invento of his estate was taken, Sept. 12, 1692; ÃÂã110.19.6. His Widow Abigail, Admx. _
Amos Marrett, brother of the wid., became guardian of her dau., Abigail Rice, aged about 12 years, Aug. 26, 1701. She m. Palmer Goulding, as above stated. They removed to that part of Worcester now Holden, and d. there; their gravestones were to be seen at \Vorcester a few years ago, in the burying ground near the common; from them we learn, that âÃÂÃÂCapt. Palmer Goulding, sen. died at Holden, Feb. 11, 1770, aged '75 and that he commanded a company at the reduction of Louisburg, June 17, 1745.

Their chil. were Palmer, Ignatius, Peter and Abel.
- Palmer,âÃÂàb. about 1723, Capt., &c., m. Abigail, b. 1735, dau. of Dea. Daniel (b. 1696, d. 1773) and Hannah (Ward) Heywood of Wor. They resided at W. where they had 7 chil. all of whom d. young or unm. His wife Abigail d. May 26, 1770, aged 35. He had a 2d wife, and d. Jan. 30, 1792, aged 69.
