About Abner Libby, Sr.

In his younger days he went several voyages to the West Indies. He afterward became a Blacksmith for many years, settling in Limington. He afterward opened a general store and kept a public house. Other Occupations: Taught the first school in Limington, was a town clerk from 1793-1800, a selectman from 1794-1802, town treasurer 1804-1809, a justice of the peace for about 40 years - filling a larger place in the community probably more than any other townsmen.
