Henry CHILDERS was born 1738. He was the son of Thomas CHILDERS.

He married Susannah GOLDSBY ABT 1755 in Virginia. She was born 1738 in Henrico County, Virginia, daughter of Thomas Goolsby, and named in his will.

Henry and Susannah (Goolsby) Childers, parents of the Revolutionary War veteran Goolsbury Childers, were born circa 1730 and married circa 1752, probably in Albermarle County, Virginia. In 1761 Henry bought land in Amherst County, Virginia. By deed dated December 1777 Henry and Susannah received land granted Thomas Goolsby by a patent dated February 1771, and granted to Henry by Thomas Goolsby's son Uilliam. The land was located on Roberts Creek, a branch of the Pedlar River. The property was later described as being adjacent to that of Moses Swinney, father of Nancy who married Goolsbury, the Revolutionary War soldier. Henry went to Greenbrier County about 1787 and to Kentucky by 1798. In 1808 he was excused by the Court from paying taxes because of illness and infirmity. Nothing more is known of Henry.

"The only clue to the genealogical origins of Henry Childress (m. Susannah Goolsby) lies in a little noted land patent, applied for in 1752 and issued 10 Sep 1755 to a Henry Childers (sic), for 50 acres in Albemarle Co., Virginia located near the Thomas Goolsby, Sr. plantation. [See Patent to Henry Childers [sic] (10 Sep 1755 dated), Land Office Patents No. 31 (1751-1756) pp. 643-644, Reel 29, Library of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia]
