About Agnes Jacob
Agnes Jacob is # 1369 on the 1907 Wooster Roll where she is identified as the daughter of Bernard Jacob # 1368. No traditional name is recorded.
In 1907 when Agnes Jacob was age 11 she was living with her father and three sisters at Manitowaning, Manitoulin Island, Ontario where she held full rights in Canada.
Manitowaning is the principal community in the township of Assiginak and features an excellent natural harbour. "Founded" in 1836 as a centre of Manitoulin Island's Aboriginal education, Manitowaning was a regular port of call for schooners and steamboats from many points on the Great Lakes. As of 2016 the old steamboat wharf is now part of the community's Museum Heritage Complex, home of the SS Norisle. Cardwell Street in Manitowaning continues east of the community, becoming the primary access road to the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve.
