Biography

Ollie Candy was born in the Cherokee Nation about 1796, the daughter of Samuel Candy, Jr. and Wuttie West, both Cherokee. She was the granddaughter of Nanyehi/Nancy Ward. She married Hair Conrad about 1812. Ollie was the mother of seven children, Elizabeth, Jefferson, Susie, John, Diana, Nancy, and Mary Hair. The family Removed to Indian Territory in 1838 in the Conrad/Colston detachment and settled in Going Snake District, Cherokee Nation. [1] Ollie appears on the 1851 Drennan Roll living next to her son Jefferson. [2] Ollie died about 1852.
