Alexander Hamilton, of Killyleagh, county Down, was the second son of Hugh Hamilton (who settled at Lisbane, near Bangor, county Down).
Alexander married Jean, daughter of John Hamilton of Belfast, and died 26 Jan 1676 leaving issue:

  • Hugh Hamilton of Ballybrenagh, his only son;
  • Jean, who married William Sloane of Chelsea (the 4th son of Alexander Sloane of Killyleagh, and brother of Sir Hans Sloane, 1st Bt, MD, President Royal College of Physicians).
