Alexander McCoy was born in Sutherland, Scotland in 1670. He married Francis Katherine Sutherland in Farr, Scotland in 1689. He died in 1740 and was buried in the Farr Cemetery.
- In Scotland official registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages did not begin until 1855. Prior to that date, Old Parish Registers of the Church records were used which unfortunately are not always easily found and when they are can be very difficult to read.
