About Alexander Montgomerie, 10th Earl of Eglinton
Alexander Montgomerie, 10th Earl of Eglinton was born on 10 February 1723.1 He was the son of Alexander Montgomerie, 9th Earl of Eglinton and Susanna Kennedy.1 He died on 25 October 1769 at age 46, killed by Mungo Campbell who was trespassing on the Earl's lands, unmarried.1
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He held the office of Governor of Dunbarton Castle between 1759 and 1761.1 He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber between 1760 and 1767.1 He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1761 and 1769.1
