About Alexander Ogilvy of Inchmartine, younger
ALEXANDER OGILVY OF INCHMARTINE younger
Alexander Ogilvy of Inchmartine, younger, here treated, is the eldest son and heir of Sir David Ogilvy of Inchmartin, Kt. The name of his mother is not known. On 6 August 1480 he ratified his father's charter for the the lands of Balgally and Barras in favour of his natural son James, NRS: GD26/3/1099 and, on the same date, his father's disposition to a second natural son, David Ogilvy [Ogilvie], of lands of Duntrone [Duntrune], Westtown [?Westertown] of Inchmartyne and West town [?Westertown] of Petmedill [Pitmiddle] NRS: GD26/3/1006
Death
A date and place of death has not been identified for Alexander Ogilvie of Inchmartine, younger. It is possible, though, quite likely even, that he died before 13 August 1500, the date upon which his father transferred ownership of his lands of Wester and Easter Inchmartine, and others, to his bastard son James Ogilvy of Balgally. RMS 1424-1513: charter number 2547 He must certainly have died before 6 July 1501, when his father was forced to defend an action for possession of the lands and barony of Inchmartin which had been raised by his nephew David Ogilvy. Acts of the Lords of Council III: p. 35
