About Alfred Honeycutt

PARENTS?

Seen as illegitimate son of Susannah Hunnicutt.
See media for page.
A Susannah Hunnicutt is listed in the bonds for Buncombe County in the North Carolina Bastardy Bonds for Oct 1832, the month & year Alfred said he was born, a "base-born German Jew" in Buncombe County.
She was called into court to name the father but if Alfred's father was a German Jew, a Burgin, as we've heard, it doesn't appear he posted bond.
The three bondsmen were William Davis, Thomas Barrett and Absolem Metcalf.
Alfred is said to have been raised by Esau Hunnicutt and Amburgey Hunnicut but his wife was an Osborn.
Since Alfred married a woman named Elizabeth Amburgey, perhaps the family story has become muddled or Alfred and his first wife Elizabeth are also cousins.
Alfred was also said to have been "adopted" or "raised" by his grandfather, which now appears to be Susannah's father.
Further research is needed.
Direct descendants may already have the answers.
