About Alice Bulos
In 1995, when President Clinton named her to the National Council on Aging, she became the first immigrant Filipino - or 1st generation FilAm - to be appointed by a sitting president to a federal advisory body. She has been informally called the "Godmother of Filipino American Politics" because of her role in public service, and her active involvement in women's organizations and Fil-Am groups. In 2020, a stretch of Skyline Boulevard (known as California Route 35 or SR35) was designated as the 'Alice Bulos Memorial Freeway'.
