About Alverta D. McNulty
Alverta was known as Dolly until she started to school. In her class was another Dolly, so she became Alverta. (However, Lottie sometimes reverted to the "Doll" even after her marriage!)
Her husband, Mr. Stanley, was a grocery clerk, a farmer, and a rural mail carrier. After his death in 1918 of flu and pneumonia, Alverta went to work as a dry goods clerk at the W. C. Smith Dept. store in Mankato, and later helped with the bookkeeping.
Eventually the whole family migrated to Colorado.
John attended Colorado University and received his degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the USBR and the Bureau of Public Roads.
Ellen married Mr. Watson, a Civil Engineer, also employed by USBR.
Lila moved on to California and worked for the telephone company and in the Treasurer's office at Alhambra. She married Mr. Scovell, an Alhambra policeman.
Dorothy studied voice in Denver, married Mr. White in Kansas. Later, after the boys were older, she moved to Colorado, worked for the Loveland Chamber of Commerce for 13 years, then moved to Calif, and married Mr. Chilcott, an architect.
