Hext Rutledge). Sarah died November 2, 1743 in Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina. Mrs. Sarah
Rutledge, wife of Andrew, was buried Nov. 2, 1743 under her own pew in Christ Church. Sarah Boone Hext
was the mother of Sarah Hext wife of Andrew's younger brother, Dr. John Rutledge.
Andrew Rutledge became Speaker of the House of Assembly of Carolina, 1749-1752, and was complimented by
both King and Governor on his learning and capacity.
