Angus Mackintosh, 6th of Mackintosh

• Son of Ferquhard Mackintosh, 5th of Mackintosh.
• Married Eva of Chattan, daughter of Dougal, 6th Captain of Clan Chattan, in 1291.
• Died in 1345.

During his minority, the Comyns seized Meikle Geddes, Rait and the castle of Inverness and the Mackintoshes did not regain them for another hundred years.

In 1319 he received a grant of lands of Benchar, in Badenoch, from which the Comyns had been expelled.

Brought up in the court of his uncle, Alexander Og MacDonald, Lord of Islay. Fought against the English at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, under Randolph, Earl of Moray. His lands of Meikle Geddes, Rait Castle and Inverness Castle were taken by the Clan Comyn. Married Eva, the daughter of Gilpatric Dougal Dall, the 6th chief of Clan Chattan. After Gilpatric's death Angus became chief of both Clan Mackintosh and Clan Chattan.

Pedigree is given in the ancient manuscripts as Shaw mac Gilchrisht mac Ian mac Angus mac Farquhar, etc., (Mac being the Gaelic for son). He was the leader of the victorious thirty at the battle of the North Inch of Perth, 1396, which Sir Walter Scott so graphically describes in his “Fair Maid of Perth”.
