Anna Strother
- Birth: 1745 - Culpeper, Virginia
- Death: Nov 4 1820 - Danville, Boyle County, Kentucky, USA
- Husband: William Gaines
- Children: Mary Polly Finley, Martha Strother Patsy Gaines, Strother Gaines, Lucy Threlkeld, Catherine Kitty Bruce, Elizabeth Betsy Rice, Gabriel J. Gaines, Sarah Sally Stone, Ezekial Fields Gaines
Disputed Origins
- She is NOT the daughter of Francis Strother and Susannah Dabney. Those parents are well documented and their wills do not include a daughter named Ann. Find A Grave: Memorial #5057069 is the only place you find this relationship and the owner of the memorial insists that it is true, but, can provide no original/primary sources.
- Kentucky Family Archives, Vol II indicates that the parents of Ann Strother are "Unknown".
- Sources on Ancestry.com to defend Francis and Susannah as the parents, include the birth record of their daughter, Susannah that married Thomas Gaines. This is where the confusion appears to start.
- Of note, the parents of Thomas and William Gaines are also confused on many trees.
- Ann is buried at Gaines Family Cemetery in Boyle County, Kentucky.
