About Ann Manigault

Anne Ashby (daughter of John Ashby and Constantia Broughton) was born 10 November 1705 in Charleston, South Carolina, and died 24 April 1782 in Charleston, South Carolina. She married Gabriel Manigault on 29 April 1730 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Pierre Manigault and Judith Gitton.

Anne Ashby: maintained a very intereting diary from 1754 until 1781. She was a patron of the arts and entertained visiting artists in her home, as recorded in her diary.
