In the midst of our sadness, we praise God and give Him thanks for the life of a woman we were privileged to call beloved wife, cherished mother, devoted "Nana" and dear friend. On Sunday, December 10, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer, Ann Shockley Veazey beheld the face of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ann, 69, was the daughter of the late Hubert S. and Callie Berry Shockley of Taylors. She attended Taylors High School and Mars Hill College, and was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church.

Ann is survived by her husband of 45 years, Walter "Walt" Hutchinson Veazey, her daughter, Dalinda V. Powell, and son-in-law, Jody Powell, andher two precious grandchildren, Thomas Jacob "Jake" Powell and Andrew Edward "Drew" Powell, all of Mauldin; her maternal aunt, Frances Berry Harley of Greer; her goddaughter, Ann Hutchinson of Greenville; and several cousins.

At the time of her death, Ann was at her home surrounded by her immediate family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, from 7-8:30 p.m. at The Wood Mortuary, 300 W. Poinsett Street, in Greer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Taylors, 200 W. Main Street, in Taylors. Dr. Jimmie Harley will officiate.

Burial will be in the family plot at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville. The family is at the residence.
