Hi Bev!You are in luck as there are many descendants of the Utterback/Otterbach family on the site. I have photos of the Otterbach home in Trubach, Germany that I would be happy to share with you. The house is the home of Anna Margreth Otterbach b. 1685 d. ca 1724. She is the daughter of Harman Otterbach and Elizabeth Heimbach and the wife of Hans Jacob Holtzclaw. Hans Jacob also lived in Trupbach very close to Anna Margreth and that home is still there, too. The Heimbach home is also still in Trupbach and I have a photo of that, although not a very good one! Lots of Germanna heads in front of it!Hans Jacob and Anna Margerth came to Virginia with the First Colony in 1714, along with their two sons, John and Henry. Anna's parents also emigrated at that time, with her siblings, John Phillip, John, Elizabeth, Alice Catherine, Mary Catherine and Anna Catherine.Barb Price

from Suzanne Matson: Hans Jacob HOLTZCLAW, born 1683 in the Nassau-Siegen area, married first Anna Margretha OTTERBACH who died sometime in the mid or late 1720's. He married second, Catherine (Maiden Name Unknown). He and his second wife had a son named Joseph and a son named Jacob, among other children. BC Holtzclaw refers to the son Jacob as Joseph Jacob. I have never found any reference to Jacob as Joseph Jacob in any primary documents, so I have absolutely no idea where BC Holtzclaw came up with the name. There has been much speculation about which children belong to which wife, but no primary documents have been presented to support the various points of view. There is some inferential evidence available in various court records to support the parentage of some of the children but not all. The parentage of Hans Jacob Holtzclaw's two eldest children, Johannes and Johann Henrich, is proven by the baptism records at Nikolaikirche in Siegen.As to the Alice Catherine Lobericht, I have no idea where someone got that name in connection with Hans Jacob Holtzclaw. There are some Loeberichts in the Nassau-Siegen area but to my knowledge none emigrated with the 1714 colony to Virginia.Suzanne Change Date: 31 Jan 2005 at 00:00:00

Anna Margareth Otterbach was the oldest child of Johann Hermann Otterbach and Elsbeth Heimbach and was christened the 9th Sunday after Trinity, 1686. Her godmother was Margreth (Dornsieffer) Otterbach, wife of Johannes Otterbach (1659-1740).She married August 7, 1708 Hans Jacob (Holzklau) Holtzclaw in Siegen, Germany.
