She came to America with her parents in about 1630 in search of relief from religious persecution. She married Lawrence Waters in 1633. In 1638 she and Lawrence were warned for having danced (Puritan society frowned on dancing). Court records show the severity with which the Puritan authorities ruled their citizens; "Lawrence Waters' wife was enjoyned to give John Finch 18 pence for contempt and admonished to avoid dancing". After an indian massacre in 1675 the family moved to Charlestown for temporary shelter and a son (Stephen) became responsible for the family because Lawrence became blind. Later Indians attacked the town after they had moved back and stormed the garrison where the settlers had taken refuge. It was a brutal, bloody fight and many lives were lost. Survivors of that attack took shelter in two houses one of which belonged to the Lintons. Anne died during the abandonment of the town. (wab)
She died on February 6, 1680 during the abandonment of Lancaster.
