About Annatje Anna Roseboom
Anna Roseboom Van Schaick
by Stefan Bielinski
Anna Roseboom was born in April 1706. She was a twin and the last child born to the marriage of Johannes and Gerritje Coster Roseboom. She grew up as part of a large family in a prominent trader's home on North Pearl Street.
In March 1735, she married Albany native Sybrant Van Schaick, Jr. at the Albany Dutch church. By 1747, six children had been christened in Albany.
This Van Schaick family lived comfortably on State Street in Albany's first ward. Her husband was a glazier and community leader.
In November 1737, she was named, along with her mother and five living siblings, as heir to her father's substantial property.
Anna Roseboom Van Schaick was last heard from at the christening of her son in 1747. Sybrant Van Schaick, Jr. was alive in 1772.
