Two powerful and influential families in colonial Virginia, the Harrison family and the Carter family, were united when Benjamin Harrison married Anne Carter, the daughter of Robert "King" Carter. The family also forged ties to the Randolph family, as four of his children married four grandchildren of William Randolph I.
William Byrd II had described Anne as "a very agreeable girl". As part of a dowry from Robert Carter, Harrison managed and received profits from land that was technically owned by his father-in-law. This land was entailed by Carter to Harrison's son, Carter Henry Harrison. Using bricks fired on the Berkeley plantation, Harrison built a Georgian-style three-story brick mansion on a hill overlooking the James River in 1726.) (references are in the Wikipedia article.)

- Elizabeth Harrison (born ~1723)[1] married Peyton Randolph, the son of Sir John Randolph, the grandson of William Randolph I, and the first President of the Continental Congress.[2]
- Anne Harrison (born ~1724)[1] married William Randolph III, the son of William Randolph II and the grandson of William Randolph I, and had five children.[2][12].
- Benjamin Harrison V was born 5 APR 1726 in "Berkeley", Charles City Co., VA, and died 24 APR 1790 in "Berkeley", Charles City Co., VA. He married Elizabeth Bassett.[2] His third son was William Henry Harrison, the ninth President of the United States.[3] His descendants include Congressman John Scott Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd President of the United States.[2]
- Lucy Carter Harrison was born CA 1728, and died MAR 1789 in London, co.Middlesex, England. She married Edward Randolph Jr., the son of Edward Randolph Sr. and the grandson of William Randolph I, and the couple had two children.[1] (Reports around the incident do not name the two others who died, but W.G. Stanard named them as "Lucy" and "Hannah" in 1924. The survival of Lucy is well documented, which suggests that Stanard's report is at least partially in error.)
- Hannah (born ~ – ~1745). Benjamin Harrison IV in 1745 was struck by lightning and killed, with one daughter, Hannah. Some reports incorrectly say his "two youngest daughters" were killed in 1745 when lightning struck his house.[1][nb 2] (Reports around the incident do not name the two others who died, but W.G. Stanard named them as "Lucy" and "Hannah" in 1924. The survival of Lucy is well documented, which suggests that Stanard's report is at least partially in error.)
- Carter Harrison was born 22 AUG 1732 in "Berkeley", Charles City Co., VA, and died 8 OCT 1793 in Cumberland Co., VA. He married Susannah Randolph, the daughter of Isham Randolph and the grand-daughter of William Randolph I, and had six children.[12] His descendants include two mayors of Chicago: Carter Henry Harrison III and his son Carter Henry Harrison IV.[13]

- Henry Randolph Harrison was born ABT 1736 in "Berkeley", Charles City Co., VA, and died 1772 in "Hunting Quarter", Sussex Co., VA. He served as a captain under Major General Edward Braddock in the French and Indian War and under Lieutenant Colonel George Washington.

- Charles Harrison was born abt 1750, and died 1796. who was colonel of the 1st Continental Artillery Regiment.[1][14]
- Nathaniel Harrison was born 30 SEP 1742 in "Berkeley", Charles City Co., VA, and died 24 DEC 1782. He became Sheriff of Prince George County in 1779 and a member of the Virginia House of Delegates in 1781–1782. In 1760, he married Mary Ruffin, daughter of Edmund Ruffin and they had four children. He married Anne Gilliam in 1768 and they had six children. His descendants include J. Hartwell Harrison.
