About Arnould van Heusden, I
Arnold I was first mentioned as lord of Heusden in 1173. He probably build the castle of Heusden. He might have been a son of Herman van Heusden, but there is no hard evidence from primary sources for this parentage yet
There are multiple false pedigrees dating from 15th and 16th century which add a number of ancestors to the earliest known lords of Van Heusden. One such line was published by Jacob van Oudenhoven in his book Geschiedenis en Beschryving der stad Heusden etc., published in 1794. This book presents the following line:
Robert I, first lord of Heusden
Edmond I, second lord of Hesuden
Robert II, third lord of Heusden
Edmond II, fourth lord of Heusden
Jan I, fifth lord of Heusden
Robert III, sixth lord of Heusden, died 972, married to a daugther of the count of Salm
Boudewijn II, seventh lord of Heusden, died 1028, married to a daughter of the count of Gennep
Jan II, eigth lord of Heusden, died 1073, married to Machteld of Steenvoorden
Robert IV, ninth lord of Heusden, died 1092, married to a daughter of the lord of Arkel
Boudewijn III, tenth lord of Heusden, died 1110, married to a daughter of the count of Lippe
Jan III, eleventh lord of Heusden, died 1135, married to a daughter of the lord of Arentsbergh
Willem, twelfth lord of Heusden, died 1153, married to a daughter of the count of Linnighen
Arnoud, thirteenth lord of Heusden, died 1168, daughter of the count of Salm
In reality, Arnoud of Heusden, mentioned above as the 13th lord of Heusden, is the first person in this line who is actually documented in primary sources, but even for him the information given is incorrect, because he died ca. 1200 and not already in 1168. All information on older generations should be considered as fake information, created to give local lords a noble descent, and should not be copied as actual, reliable information. The same goes for other lines derived from 15th/16th century sources that go beyond Arnold of Heusden.
