About Augustin Plourde

Augustin Plourde, (c. 1834 - 1895) was born in New Brunswick, Canada. He married Amedée Pelletier in Frenchville, ME in 1857 and lived most of his life in Aroostook County, Maine. It's a mystery how he came to die in Massachusetts. Because of the loss of the 1890 census, we don't know where he was between the 1880 census, when he was in Frenchville, and 1895, when he died in Massachusetts.

He was a farmer, and his sons grew up helping on the farm. The whole family, and the whole town, spoke only French. There were 14 children born to the couple.
