Thomas Lawson of Ushworth was born 1520 in Newcastle, Northumberland, England, and died d. before JUN 1559 (date of inquest) in Usworthe, Durham, England and Elizabeth Darrell, d aft 1602 had children:

Barbara Lawson, was a daughter of Thomas Lawson of Usworth, co. Durham and Elizabeth Darrell of Wiltshire.[1] Her uncle was Robert Lawson of Usworth, co. Durham,[2] & of Rock, who was the second husband of Margery Swinhoe.

Barbara married twice to:

1. Thomas Whitehead of Wearmouth, co. Durham,[1][3][2] (d. 28 Oct 1580).[4]. 2nd wife.
2. John Blakiston, Esq. of Blakiston on 31 Jul 1582 Norton, co. Durham,[4][5] (b. c. 1535, age 22 in 1557 - bur. 07 Feb 1586/7 Norton, co. Durham; will 05 Jan 1586/7). 2nd wife. No issue.[6]

Barbara was not Thomas Whitehead's first spouse. His son William (d. 1600), was married to her sister Catherine Lawson (living 1597).[7]

The will of her second husband John Blakiston, identifies Barbara's children with Thomas Whitehead as:[8]

1. Robert Whitehead (living 1580).[4][8]
2. Henry Whitehead (b. aft. 1575, under age 18 in 1593; living 21 Aug 1609).[4][8]
3. Mary Whitehead (under age in 1593), her guardian was Thomas Blakiston, Esq.[4][8]
4. Katherine Whitehead m. (04 Jul 1586 Norton, co. Durham) Thomas Blakiston of Newton Hall, second son of John Blakiston, Esq. of Blakiston (Barbara's second husband) & his first wife Elizabeth Bowes.[4][8][9]

Blakiston's will specifically states that Henry and Mary Whitehead were Barbara's 'natural children.'[8]
