Betty C. Guild was born on October 29, 1920 in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Archibald S. Guild and Winnifred Guild.
Her father was born in Scotland and emigrated initally to Canada. He married Winnifred Wilson on October 25, 1916 in Portland, OR. They settled in Honolulu, HI, where Mr. Guild worked. He had become a U.S. citizen in June 1914.
Betty also had two younger brothers, both born in Honolulu, Hawaii.
According to both the Wikipedia and Veteran Tributes articles, Betty earned her pilot's license at age 15 through the Civilian Pilot Training Program, University of Hawaii.
In 1942, she married Robert Tackaberry, a Naval officer. She was a member of the first Women's Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) training class on April 24, 1943, at Sweetwater, Texas.
According to the Veteran Tributes article Betty Guild Tackaberry flew P-51 Mustangs, P-38 Mosquitos, B-17 Flying Fortresses, B-25 Mitchels, B-24 Liberators, P-47 Thunderbolts as well as other aircraft, from factories to the East Coast before being transported across the Atlantic.
She and Robert Tackaberry divorced in 1945.
She later married George W Blake and moved to Arizona. They were the parents of three sons, who survive her.
In 2009, the WASPs were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.
Mrs Blake was believed to be the last surviving member of her WASP training class.
