About Bleddyn de Hulton

Since his sons Iorwerth and Madog were exiled from Wales by Owain Gwynedd in 1167 (which is how they ended up in Lancashire) but Bleddyn was not, he would have been dead by then, 1167.

See Burke's "Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry of Great Britain and Ireland," 1862. volume 1, p 741.

Issue

Blethyn de Hulton had two sons:

  1. Jorwerth or Yarwritt de Hulton, born, say, 1159. Bleythin was the father of Jorveth, alias Yarwit de Hulton, who flourished in the reigns of Richard I (1189-1199) and John (1199-1216), and obtained from the latter a grant by charter of the town of Penelton, in Lancashire, in exchange for other lands which the king, when Earl of Morton, had given him. The charter for Penelton, coming from John could not have been earlier than 1199. While Iorveth "flourished" in the reign of Richard (1189-1199), he likely was of age when forced to leave Wales in 1167, so make him aged 22 in 1167, hence born, say, 1145. Jorveth died in 1215. Certainly Iorwerth and Madoc, sons of Bleiddyn, held lands in Hulton before 1200.
  2. Madoc. born, say, 1147. Certainly Iorwerth and Madoc, sons of Bleiddyn, held lands in Hulton before 1200.
